A. SUMMARY
This data shows the locations of slow streets designated as part of the SFMTA response to sheltering in place and supporting essential movement throughout San Francisco.

B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED
The data was created using the city's centerline (CNN) shapefile. Using the Slow Street extents, polylines from the CNN data were queried out. Additional fields were added to give the segments various attributes related to the Slow Streets program.

This dataset contains upcoming and current permitted street and lane closures occurring as a result of the Shared Spaces program, certain special events, and some construction work. This dataset only includes street closures permitted by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA). It doesn’t include street closures managed by other City departments such as Public Works or the Police Department. More details regarding these street closures can be found here.

The data is exported from the Street Closures Salesforce database maintained by the SFMTA ISCOTT unit and the construction closure Access database maintained by SFMTA STP unit. It is converted to the standard Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx) format per the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT). More information is available from the USDOT's WZDx site and the official WZDx Specification on GitHub.

This report is issued and posted here daily.

The WZDx standard allows infrastructure owners and operators make harmonized work zone data available for third party use. B. METHODOLOGY Dataset created by multiple analysts over several years; various methodologies employed including manual drawing and use of offset tool and street centerline shapefile. Most recent methodology includes use of the "blockfaster" tool.
C. UPDATE FREQUENCY Updated frequently as this dataset is currently in development, as of June 2015.
D. OTHER CRITICAL INFO Attributes are in progress and unverified, except for SFPARK_ID.Some blockfaces are drawn only for portions of a given street length, as they were originally intended to show length of street where parking regulations were in effect. Currently being revised (June 2015).
